The Courses

Both the 5K and 5 Mile are certified USATF courses.

The kids’ races are age-dependent distances: 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, and 3/4 mile and 1 mile, starting and finishing on the Dave McGillivray Track at Hormel Stadium. The youth who are participating in the Dream Big Marathon will run their final mile together.

The Mayor’s Celebrity Mile (invitation only) is a one-mile course run on the Dave McGillivray Track at Hormel Stadium.

Jerry’s Run for All Ages 5K

The 5K returns in 2024! This year, the 5K race is being named after Jerry Panarese, who was a member of the New England 65+ Runners Club. Jerry was the director of the Run of All Ages which was held in Wakefield, MA for 25 years. The race was going to end, so we decided to include it in our Run Medford event to keep Jerry's spirit alive and going.

Awards for the Jerry’s Run for All Ages 5K will be presented in 5-year age groups for 65+ participants as well as age graded scoring for 65+ participants in the 5K. There will also be discounted pricing for all runners 65 or older and free entry for those who are 80 or older.

Course Restrictions + Support

For the safety of all runners, skateboards, rollerblades, animals, and unauthorized bicycles and wheeled devices are not permitted in this event.

Everyone participating in this event must be registered, including children. We highly recommend that children under the age of 12 be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.

Time Limit

The time limit to complete the 5K & 5-mile course is 90 minutes. Those still on the course after this time may be asked to move to the sidewalk to complete the course as an “informed pedestrian.”

Water Stations

Water will be available along both the 5K and 5-mile courses as well as the Start Line Area, the Finish Line, and the Post-Race Party.

Portable Toilets

Portable toilet facilities will be located at the start and finish areas.

Each participant will receive a finisher’s medal, t-shirt, a copy of Dave McGillivray’s illustrated book Running Across America, and for those older than 21 years, two drink tickets for the post-race party!
